Hello..lo…lo……Are there any chicks out there….?

Why is it that there are so few women in this new age digital game… [no chauvinism from the peanut gallery please]. Really, it is something that is bugging me… I have yet to come across a women [besides web design] that does programming or is leading a revolution in Social Media. What is with that? Its a real boys club out there.

Is it an interest thing..? Is it just too boring for females to compete with some of the enormous egos that are taking up valuable space on the web?

I had an interesting question from a client that other day that made me think [yip I tend to do that every now and then].. It was ‘Who is the female equivalent of Bill Gates?’.. I had to ‘call a friend’ [sadly... and with a touch of irony.... a male] and the answer came back Meg Whitman [from ebay].. Anyone know anyone else…? It is with regret that, at this stage, I have to say I don’t.

I feel that it does not have to boil down to the number of females or males in the industry at all,but more or less about the contribution the individuals are making irrellevant to whether the stand or sit down when they go to the loo,if you know what I mean…..It’s about forward thinking at the end of the day.

Totally agree, it is however still a point of interest for me regarding why this industry attracts so much Testosterone…
