Well woman have to be the best at maintaining themselves, but I have to say sometimes people scare me when they don’t maintain themselves or their surroundings. It would be great if everyone just stopped littering and started recycling – yah dream on….
I had to laugh the other day when I received a certificate from Mondi recycling saying that I’ve become a mutual partner with them and thanking me for taking this step forward – when I have been trying to get in touch with these people for the last 2 months. They just don’t return calls / answer mails. I’ve wanted a recycling bin from them since September and now I am wrestling through these papers daily to get to my desk. My make shift recycling bin is pretty nifty even though no-one comes to collect any of it so the pile gets higher and higher but I’m deteremined to keep on doing it until maybe one day someone from a recycling company rocks up – maybe in my dreams in South Africa. I’ve actually emailed a few recycling companies, and to my surprise haven’t heard a word…..it’s like they really don’t want new clients they really don’t want us to be GREEN???
All I want to do is recycle so can someone hook me up with a company that is wanting my recyclable goods….
Desperatley seeking South African Recycler….

It was a breath of fresh air to see the greater community of South African Illustrators come together to appreciate/support the vast talent of illustrators we have in our country. To the rest of you who either live in an office cubicle 24/7 or don’t read the paper at all (hope I’m wrong), I talking about the Night of a 1000 drawings which was held at the Lister Building in Jozi CBD.What was also really great was the fact that this was a charity event, where all the illustrations submitted by the illustrators were exhibited for sale at R100.00 each, cheap but priceless at the end of the day cause some of those illustration were mind blowing.
After going to the 18th floor where the illustrations were exhibited, you had to register for the newsletter informing you about upcoming events of similar note. I was in awe at the vast Talent of Illustrators I saw at this venue. The cosmopolitan atmosphere (writers license baby.haha) was fully appreciated and it was also interesting to meet and talk to some of the illustrators and the fact that it was peers whom I could very much relate to in terms of the subject matter and the fact that we all pushing the same cause.
The crowd was vastly made up of some of the well established agencies in Jozi, who are really doing ground breaking projects in the field of Design /Media in general. Oh I also got to rub shoulders with some of the Top Dogs in the Industry of Production and Motion Graphics.
I also feel the need to mention the venue, especially the rooftop where a mother of all jols was happening, and boy was it happening. The view of Jozi from the rooftop was one of the things that basically made my night and I would rate as one of the best views I’ve seen in my life, totally priceless.
All in all bigups to the organizers who orchestrated the event. It’s good that not only are we bringing exposure to the talent we have, but also the fact that it was an event to give back to the masses of SA.Thank You very much and see you next year.
Peace

Work-Life balance…….? In life its all about enjoying the journey and not rushing to the destination – just like Yoga!
On Monday I took my first Bikram class in Jozi. I’ve done tons of Sivananda Yoga when I was living in LA – I actually even signed up to do a Teachers Training Course in Grass Valley- Cali, but I had a little bubba instead. I’m still thinking I should do a part time course here in SA it’s just a matter of finding the right place to do it. My first Bikram class turned out to be a huge hit, today my body is aching all over but that is purely because I have practiced the practice for ages. The class started at 5:30am but you had to get to the studio at 5:00am if you were a new comer. I got there 15 minutes late my bad luck, but I didn’t think it was going to be a big deal, being yogis no-one stresses – right? WRONG! The woman at the front desk was abrupt and stated in a rude manor that we were 15 minutes late and that we had to register and that she had to run through the breathing techniques for the class. I thought that was very un-yogi-fied but it didn’t stop me wanting to try out the class. It turned out that she was the teacher – great thats my kinda luck!!!
Well the day got brighter with a few stars.. from all the heat in the studio! I don’t recommend this for the faint hearted – if you can‘t stand the heat in the kitchen then you’ll have serious difficulty lasting in here. You walk into a room of extreme heat, it’s like Durbs in the summer with highest humidity ever – but I love that even with the frizzy hair! Throughout the class you do slow moving asanas with with rythmic breathing. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, I managed to sustain the full 90 minutes and the after feeling – wow it’s priceless!! What a great way to start the day, it beats any Kelloggs. I highly recommend you get on it and maybe I’ll see you there. If I get to go twice a week.. that’s depending on my 11 month old daughter, if she gives me the time of day to focus my third eye.
